Neon tribe is a young Norwegian producer who’s been showing quite a few nice remixes on Soundcloud in the past year. Not all of them seem to stick though, due to copyright takedowns. Which looks like is going to be the case with this Avicii remix – but hopefully not.
The original ‘Dear Boy’ by Avicii came out in 2013 on his debut album ‘True’ and featured vocals by MØ, who went on and became known by collaborating with Diplo. But this means ‘Dear Boy’ is owned by PRMD and Universal, which might be bad news for Neon Tribe – as he has witnessed before on his own remixes.
There are ways to work this out though, for instance a Youtube upload could very well be tolerated by the label if through Youtube monetizing the remix generates revenue for Universal and the other rightsholders. As the situation is now, Neon Tribe’s remix might also vanish from Soundcloud soon. Enjoy while you can, be sure to follow Neon Tribe:
