Florence + The Machine – You’ve Got the Love (Dennis Kruissen Remix)
Really cool remix by Amsterdam based producer Dennis Kruissen. The original ‘You Got The Love’ comes from the eighties, back when Candi Staton wrote the song. In 2009 Brittish singer + band Florence + The Machine recorded their own cover, to see that cover being used in a remix competition just a year later. Of course the acapella got onto all these shady download portals, never to be removed from the internet again. Which is great, because it allows remixes like this to happen.
Durante ft. Chuck Ellis – Slow Burn
Skrillex’s all-about-upcoming-artists (sub)label Nest is premiering a new track by LA duo Durante and Chuck Ellis this week. It’s the 37th EP too be shared by the label and it has this fine house vibe to it that was pretty much all over this entire summer. Ellis’ vocals aren’t too invasive, Durante’s piano loop does most o the work here.
Calvin Harris ft. John Newman – Blame (Calvo Remix)
Dollar signs written all over it. Newman’s had his own share of radio success, the story is no different for the biggest money machine in the music industry right now; Calvin Harris. Of course a collaboration raises some high expectations from a mainstream crowd. To be fair, Blame is just a good track. But this Calvo remix ads that extra extra flavour. Crowd friendly club material that would do great with big crowds.
Le Youth ft. Javeon – Feel Your Love (Tuff Turf Remix)
Third piano track in a row (sorry) and a big score for Javeon, yet another collaboration that is turning out to be a golden move. Le Youth and Javeon’s ‘Feel Your Love’ is living up to its potential for both clubs and radio stations. Right after Javeon did great work together with Magician earlier this year. To be fair, the Tuff Turf rework is not as original as the original (yeah), but the remix is just great to throw in a live set. Keep!
Mark Morrison – Return Of The Mack (JackLNDN Remix)
Final track for today’s final post. Nineties fun on JackLNDN’s latest remix for Mark Morrison. Deeper track somewhere between house and disco, subtle use of vocals. Saving this one for Sundays.
