Two months ago we wrote a little something about a producing contest hosted by a man named Funkerman. The contest cought our eye because there was no original track to remix.
Just some vocals were spread. To be honest, even those couldn’t be a master ingredient for a solid production. In our eyes it was a challenge for pro’s only. Another strong point about this contest we figured out later: Because there is only one element that is property of the host (the acapella), it’s really easy for a contestant to just take that part out of the production and still have a solid instrumental which can be used for any other purpose after the contest.
At the time of the earlier contest-post, there already was a monster entry to that competition thanks to a young Swede called Midibyte.
In the meantime some more people joined in, making some serious competition for that Swede. A quick youtube search shows that over 350 people joined the competion. Ten of them have been selected to win the contest. Amongst those people of course, the Midibye himself.
Here’s some of the competition:
Matthew Royal
Tamerlan & Djons
The other competitors are up on Funkerman’s website.People go there to vote on which producer is going to be the winner of almost 2600 dollars worth of audio equipment, plus an EP release. And for all you greedy folks (yes, you!), they even hand out some audio gear to voters.
To cast your vote on Midibyte (No secret: he’s our favorite. You can also cast your vote on one of the others), go here!
