As shared by many others already, the new Red Bull Studios EP by KiNK is out and it’s a free bunch of tracks. The Bulgarian dj worked it out in Paris with Rachel Row and support by, Red Bull, Trax Magazine, Resident Advisor, Jerome Blackjoy Caron (the studio engineer) and many more.
The EP features four different tracks, with one track (Say The Word) also gets a dub treatment (and to be fair, vocals on the original might not be for everyone, but then the dub puts a welcome emphasis on the instrumental). The fourth track on there moves away for the sound KiNK is mostly known for to put Row’s vocals – also really good – in the lead on a 70BPM track. Be sure the check out the full EP over here.
The one track that makes the EP stand out has to be that fittingly titled ‘The French Affair’ track though. Faithful to a warm four on the floor beat loop paired with a Rhodes MK 1 piano, it even sounds like something made on French soil. Definitely check the track out if you’ve been enjoying dj’s like Detroit Swindle, Kerri Chandler or Dennis Ferrer.
Furthermore be sure to go see KiNK live. He’s a stellar live dj who interactively builds up his tracks on the spot and isn’t afraid to show what he’s doing, frequently picking up synthesizers show what’s actually happening on stage. In the coming months KiNK will be coming to Glitch Festival (Malta), De Marktkantine (Holland), Watergate (Germany) Reworks Festival (Greece) and DC-10 (Ibiza). Go see where he’s playing and head over to Red Bull Studios Paris to see what KiNK told RBSP about the live session.
If you’re wondering what the studio process looked like, be sure tohave a look at the video below. To give some fans an inside view of the studio, KiNK streamed a session live on jul 17th which shows exactly why KiNK is someone you should probably go see live:
