It’s funny how press releases about artists always tell you how the artist is going to conquer the world, if not the universe. One band sending out this message in press releases is Misteur Valaire. They are a jazz trained fivesome from Sherbrooke, Canada.
Example: “Misteur Valaire will launch their new album GOLDEN BOMBAY On May 18TH, 2010. An album where musical richness meets radio hits. (…) On their way to conquer the world, Misteur Valaire will leave for France in June 2010.”
These press releases give the strange impression that someone is trying to sell you crap. (Watch Tellsell, you’ll get that feeling.) When instead, the person writing this should be telling you that he or she honestly has some good music you should hear.
Because in contradiction to their press releases, Misteur Valaire’s music is something you should actually pay attention to. And now and then they even tend to make a video that is able to make people smile.
These swimming beauties have a new album coming up May 18th, called ‘Golden Bombay’. As promo, they are giving away a free track they recorded with electronica collective Bran Van 3000 called ‘Ave Mucho’.
So there you go, nice video, nice music and no need to talk nonsense. It’s probably a healthy habit of every blogger, music journalist and consumer to skip the mild forms of press-release-spam and get to the music instead.
In a world where there is an abundance of bands and an incredibly fast network to spread music, not one band is likely to conquer the world anyway.
