Really cool to hear a fresh voice – from the looks of it he’s coming mostly from a hiphop background – doing a classic sound like this.
Rex Orange County is a 19 year old singer/musician from Haslemere, Surrey (UK). He works together with Dutch fellow musician Benny Sings on ‘Loving Is Easy’. Think of a fresh take on early seventies soul records, like a Bill Withers-y kind of sound.
Earlier this year Rex Orange County released his album ‘Apricot Princess’, which got praise from sites such as The Fader and NME. As a musician the young Brit has played on stage with Frank Ocean and Skepta. His track ‘Uno’ gained more popularity through being featured on Netflix’ ‘Dear White People’ as well. Last but not least, Rex Orange County from the list of collaborators on Tyler The Creator’s album ‘Flower Boy’.
This new song ‘Loving Is Easy’ definitely takes the young Brit on to a more friendly sound. Compliments to Rex Orange County and Benny Sings, this simply has to be one of the smoothest tracks to come out in the past weeks. Be sure to add it to your playlist on wichever streaming service you like.
