Good Feeling
‘Something’s Got A Hold On Me’ by Etta James. Must be the sample of the year. It slowly leaked into the blogosphere in the beginning of 2011 thanks to Avicii’s ‘Levels’ (Which still had the anonymous ‘ID’ title at the time). Almost a year and a dozen of cheap pop remixes later I find this little gem. It is titled ‘Good Feeling’ and it’s part of the ‘Downtown Delinquents’ Mixtape by Zak Downtown. The track uses samples from both Etta James and Avicii’s ‘Levels’.

Dreamer
Canadian musician/actor Ish just sent in a link to his track ‘Dreamer’. The track is a remix on Xaphoon Jones’ remix on Savoir Adore’s song ‘Dreamers’. (You follow?) It’s also the first track off his new mixtape titled ‘Long Days, Short Nights’, but there’s no clue on when the mixtape will drop.

Geeklife Embassy
A few days ago Smarterchild introduced me to a hiphop formation from Queens, NY. They’re called Oxymorons and in October they dropped a mixtape titled ‘STFU And Listen’. It’s a good one, get it here. The second track on the mixtape is titled ‘Geeklife Embassy’, basically it’s just a remix on Passion Pit’s ‘Sleepyhead’. Nice addition in what unfortunately already is a long list of Passion Pit remixes.

Nights Like Bonita
Too bad the official download link has maxed out, but I’m posting this anyway. Icona Pop posted their own version of Madonna’s ‘La Isla Bonita’ yesterday. They left most of the original instrumental version in tact. It’s actually the vocals provided by Icona Pop’s own track ‘Nights Like This’ that make the difference for this remix.
